We are absolutely delighted to announce that Building Futures in The Gambia has a brand-new member of staff! Please join us in giving a warm, joyful Busumbala welcome to Teacher Mariama Jaiteh, who has officially joined BFiG Busumbala Nursery School. Welcome to the team, Mariama Jaiteh!
And guess what? We now have two teachers, both named Mariama! Yes, the famous “Two Mariamas” are here to guide our growing school community into its next exciting chapter.

The arrival of Teacher Mariama Jaiteh isn’t just wonderful news for our staff team — it’s transformational for our pupils. With two teachers:
- We can increase the number of children enrolled 🎉
- We can separate age groups and teach more appropriately 👶🏽👧🏽
- We can provide more individual attention and greater support 🧠💛
Anyone who has seen our photos and videos will know that our classes have often included a wide range of ages all learning together. That’s common in Gambian nursery schools, but with a second teacher we can start to shape learning in a way that gives every child exactly what they need, when they need it.
And the difference? We’re already seeing it! Over the past week alone, pupil numbers have already increased — more families are choosing BFiG Busumbala Nursery School because they see a safe, growing, inspiring place for their children to learn. 🌱📚
