The Powerful Heavens Open! Rainy Season Begins in The Gambia!

🌧️ Rainy Season Begins in The Gambia!
It’s official. The skies have opened, the clouds are rumbling, and The Gambia is being washed clean once again. The Rainy Season has well and truly arrived, and with it comes a buzz of energy, relief and new life.
Yesterday, our School Manager, Uncle Lamin Barrow, sent over a set of incredible videos straight from his family compound in his home village of Sankandi. You can almost feel the air crackling with electricity as the first big downpours hit the ground. In the clips, the sky changes in minutes from bright to grey, and the sound of heavy rain bouncing off the earth is wonderfully loud—as if the clouds themselves are celebrating.
🌱 A Season of Growth
Rainy Season isn’t just “weather” in The Gambia.
It’s hope.
It’s food.
It’s new crops in the ground.
For farmers like Lamin—who spends every rainy season growing rice and peanuts in his village—this is the moment the whole year builds towards. Fields begin to breathe again. Dry land softens. Seeds can finally take root.
🌍 Why This Matters to BFiG
At BFiG Busumbala Nursery School, Rainy Season also means opportunities. It’s the perfect time to plant trees and flowers on the school grounds, knowing the rain will give them a strong, healthy start. Shade for children, fruit-bearing trees for the future, and gardens that will help teach agriculture as part of the Gambian school curriculum—all fed by the same rain splashing down in those Sankandi videos.
🎥 A Glimpse of Village Life
So sit back, watch Lamin’s videos, and take a moment to feel that connection. From Sankandi village to Busumbala Nursery School, the same rain is preparing the soil for learning, growing and building futures—quite literally!
🌧💚 Let the Rainy Season begin!
And let it bring growth for every child we are working for.
