The boundary wall at BFiG Busumbala Nursery School continues to rise, one brick at a time. And behind it all is the relentless drive of our School Manager, ‘Uncle’ Lamin Barrow — a man who refuses to let this dream slow down…a man who knows that education is important!

Meet Lamin: A Leader Who Puts Others First

When I speak to Lamin, it’s impossible not to feel the pride he takes in what we are building in The Gambia.

He’s not doing this for personal gain. In fact, as our friend and supporter Chris Sylla recently said, Lamin is one of the most “un-self-interested” Gambians she has met.

Lamin pushes forward because he knows exactly what education means for Gambian children: opportunity, dignity and a future worth building.

Our Wall is Rising… But Our Funds are Falling

We’re proud of how far we’ve come, but it’s important to be honest:
Before we started this wall, the charity had a low four-figure balance. After purchasing materials and paying the workers (who rely on this work), we’re now down to a three-figure balance — and the wall is still unfinished.

There’s more to build, more to maintain and ongoing daily costs to keep the school open. We are dangerously close to running out of money.
