Huge Thanks to Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Green Junior Federated Schools
I’ve always been very jealous when I’ve seen charities receive giant cheques on the television. But today, thanks to Matthew Wilmot and the children of Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Green Junior Federated Schools, it finally happened for real.
Matthew visited The Gambia when he was a teaching student with Birmingham Newman University. The expedition was led by charity trustee Mark Chidler. That experience stayed with Matthew for many years.
In July 2024, Matthew contacted me and asked if, as part of their learning about other countries and cultures, his school could team up with Building Futures in The Gambia and help fund raise for BFiG Busumbala Nursery.
So here we are, six month later, and Matthew invited me into his school to receive this fantastic cheque and also lots of the children’s learning for me to take to BFiG Busumbala Nursery School when I return to The Gambia next week. The cheque and children’s work was presented to me by the school Head and Deputy Head Boys and Girls.
I’m so grateful to Matthew’s school. The incredible donation means that we will now be able to start work on constructing a wall around the perimeter of the school site. This is tremendously important and will help us safeguard the children of BFiG Busumbala Nursery School. It also means we can think about developing a school garden and also planting trees…lots of trees!
I’ve attached some photos of the cheque and some of the children’s work which will soon be on display on the walls of BFiG Busumbala Nursery School.
