There’s excitement in the air at BFiG Busumbala Nursery School once again! Our wonderful teacher, Mariama “Sibo” Fatty, has been hard at work teaching, supporting, photographing and filming—just for us! She’s sent over a fresh set of photos and videos that show how our school is constantly growing!
👩🏫 Welcoming Our Second Teacher… and More Children Than Ever!
Last week, we proudly welcomed Teacher Mariama Jaiteh, who is now leading our second class. Having two teachers means we can finally open our doors wider and offer more children the opportunity to learn in a safe, caring and inspiring school environment.
And look what has happened already…
📌 We now have 46 pupils!
Just months ago, we finished the last school year with only 24 children. Our numbers have almost doubled! This is a powerful sign that families in Busumbala are beginning to see the incredible impact of our little school. Education is spreading, word is travelling, and our community is growing. 💛
🌳 Gates, Gardens & Growth
School Manager Lamin Barrow is currently away working on his family farm during the harvest. He is hoping to return very soon, and when he does, BIG things are planned!
🎉 The new school gates should finally be installed
🌿 Trees and flowers will be planted around the school
🌳 Shade, colour and fruit will begin to grow on our site
This will transform our grounds into a greener, safer, more vibrant environment, and we can’t wait to share the progress with you.

You’ll spot Teacher Mariama Jaiteh confidently leading her class, while Teacher Mariama Fatty continues to sprinkle joy and warmth wherever she goes. New faces, new uniforms, new classrooms being filled—it’s the most heart-warming sight.
🍉 A Day on the Farm with Lamin
As if school news wasn’t exciting enough, Lamin also sent a video today straight from his far land. In true Barrow style, he gives us a full guided tour of his water melons and ends with a cheeky invitation:
