Every Child Deserves the Chance to Learn
BFiG Busumbala Nursery School is a community-led nursery school in Busumbala Village, The Gambia.
Founded by the UK charity Building Futures in The Gambia (BFiG), the school was created to provide local children with access to safe, early-years education in a community where opportunities can often be limited.
Today, children arrive every day eager to learn, play and grow.
Some walk long distances to school.
Some have very few educational resources at home.
Many are experiencing structured nursery education for the very first time.
Thanks to the kindness of supporters, the school continues to grow.
But there is still much more to do.

“I Never Had the Opportunity to Attend School.”
School Manager Lamin Barrow grew up in a farming family in Sankandi, The Gambia.
As the oldest boy in the family, he was needed to help support the household through farming work and was unable to attend school himself.
That experience still drives his determination today.
Lamin now works tirelessly to ensure children at BFiG Busumbala Nursery School receive the educational opportunities he never had.
Visitors to the school quickly discover that Lamin’s commitment, humour, work ethic and care for the children sit at the heart of the entire project.
Recent Progress Thanks to Supporters
✔ Boundary wall completed to improve safeguarding
✔ New toilet block constructed with improved accessibility
✔ 511 donated books received from Book Aid International
✔ School garden and tree planting project underway
✔ Musical instruments purchased for pupils
✔ Second teacher appointed

✔ Ongoing classroom and resource development
