Celebrating World Teachers’ Day with TWO Amazing Teachers!

🌍 Celebrating World Teachers’ Day at BFiG Busumbala Nursery School!
Yesterday was World Teachers’ Day, a moment to honour the inspiring educators who shape young minds, nurture dreams and help communities grow. At BFiG Busumbala Nursery School, we don’t just have one incredible teacher to celebrate… we have TWO! Yes, two amazing, dedicated, talented women who just happen to share the same wonderful name: Mariama. ✨
Let’s give a round of applause (and maybe even a drum roll 🥁) for Teacher Mariama Fatty and Teacher Mariama Jaiteh — our dynamic duo who are building brighter futures every single day.
👩🏫 Meet the Two Mariamas: Double the Name, Double the Impact!
🌼 Teacher Mariama Fatty
Many of you will recognise Teacher Mariama Fatty from our much-loved International Women’s Day video. It was filmed last year to shine a spotlight on inspirational women in The Gambia. She is passionate about early childhood education, patient with every little learner, and determined to help every pupil take confident steps into their future.
Mariama brings warmth, creativity and strong classroom leadership to our school. She loves helping children read their first words, count their first numbers and sing their first school songs with pride. 🎶
🌸 Teacher Mariama Jaiteh
Our newest teacher Mariama Jaiteh has started with us for the new school year. Watch this space for more news about her!
💪 A School Built on Determination, Community and Kindness
The success of BFiG Busumbala Nursery School isn’t just bricks, gates, walls and taps (although they’re VERY important!). It is built on people — especially incredible educators like the Mariamas who give their time, hearts and energy to the children in our care.
Every lesson taught…
Every child encouraged…
Every dream supported…
…helps build a stronger future for Busumbala, one classroom at a time.
🎥 Watch Again: A Powerful Moment from International Women’s Day
If you’ve never seen it — or if you’d love to watch it again — here’s another chance to view the video we created last year for International Women’s Day, featuring Teacher Mariama Fatty. It shines a beautiful light on the vital role Gambian women play in education, community leadership and hope for the future.
