Busumbala Nursery School – Concrete Base Completed

Another important milestone in the construction of BFiG Busumbala Nursery School!
In 2015, following the arrangements to send payment to The Gambia for the concrete floor, work progressed on the school’s foundations and concrete base.
With the concrete base and foundations completed, we had taken another significant step towards turning our plans for a nursery school in Busumbala into reality.
Building the Foundations of Our School
These photographs show the progress made during this early stage of construction, alongside our Gambian building contractor, Mr Sonko.
It was particularly exciting to see the project beginning to take physical shape after so much planning and fundraising.

Thank You to Our Supporters
We would like to thank everyone at Kitwell Primary School and Newman University who contributed towards this stage of the building project.
Their generosity and fundraising efforts helped us reach another important milestone in our ambition to provide better educational opportunities for children in Busumbala.
Fundraising continued that October with our Music for The Gambia charity night at Bartley Green Social Club, which eventually raised £969.12.
You can read about the Music for The Gambia charity night and see photographs from the event.
Looking back, these early construction photographs are a reminder of just how far Busumbala Nursery School has come — and of the many people who helped us get started.
