🥁 Amazing Kindness from the Drums Aloud Family!
Huge, heartfelt thanks to the incredible Drums Aloud Family, who have raised around £600 for Building Futures in The Gambia! 💛🇬🇲
Where did this incredible donation come from? I’ll share the full, wonderful story soon. But for now, just know this money has arrived at the perfect moment… and might just save the day!
📜 Becoming Official: School Registration in Progress!
The paperwork is IN! BFiG Busumbala Nursery School has now submitted everything required to The Gambia’s Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education. The next step is an official school inspection, and then—fingers tightly crossed—we’ll be a fully registered school! 🎉📚
💪 Community Clear-Up Day This Sunday
This Sunday, members of the Busumbala community will gather at the school for a volunteer clean-up of the grounds. Their generosity and teamwork help us keep our school beautiful, safe and vibrant. We are so grateful to everyone who gives their time to support the children. 🌿🤝
🚽 Toilet Trouble! But… Also Toilet Triumph!
Bad news first: our toilets have jammed.
Good news: we were always planning a rebuild, because the original toilets were badly constructed and built right in the middle of the play area! 😳
Even better news:
Thanks to the Drums Aloud donation, we can start rebuilding the toilets immediately. This is HUGE. Clean, safe toilets are an essential part of keeping our children healthy and happy. 🙌🚽
🔐 New Gates Coming Soon… and Then the TREES!
Once the builders are on-site for the toilets, they’ll also be installing our brand new school gates. These gates were funded thanks to the kindness of Albert Pritchard Infant and Wood Green Junior Federated Schools and the brilliant efforts of Matthew Wilmot. 🌟
And THEN — once those gates are up — we can finally plant all the trees funded by Emmanuel School Walsall! 🌱🌳🍊
I can’t wait to show you how they raised their funds back in July!
👨🌾 Lamin Barrow: Back and Ready for Action!
School Manager Lamin Barrow has now returned from his village after harvesting his rice (a rice post is definitely coming!). He’s now fully focused on school development and making Busumbala Nursery shine. 🌾💪

📦 500 Books on the Way!
We are eagerly waiting for five hundred books donated by Book Aid International. Soon, our children will have real storybooks to treasure. Just imagine the impact! 📖✨

Although we can now start rebuilding the toilets, the total cost is still more than we currently have. We also face the ongoing responsibility of paying our teachers every month.
